The Malaysian automobile manufacturer has been awarded a grid spot as one of two new teams for 2011.

“It is truly an historic day for Perodua Sendirian Berhad.” said Mr Benzene Karisma, the company’s spokesperson in a press conference held here today at Sepang.

“For too long, we have been unfairly discriminated against as 'little brother' of Proton, simply because we’re founded 10 years later. For far too long, we have been the subject of insults, simply because we have a tendency to create small family cars, and the people call us pengecut. Well, today these cowardly acts stop!"

The company was established in 1993 and launched their first car, the Perodua Kancil in late 1994.

“We are not just a small new team, we have the possibilities to be a very substantial team, because we have powerful engines as well as experienced mechanics in our camp. We should be able to demonstrate how good we are to the other teams.”

"We make small cars, and that's really important in a race. We have agility, which is very important when it comes to pit stop. We could park the car fast enough to make a winning pit stop, and probably even make both cars come in simultaneously!" He continued gleefully.

When asked about potential drivers to pilot the cars, the newly appointed team manager, Anthony Lun, said that the company is seriously considering seven-times World Champion Michael Schumacher, pairing with a Malaysian racer, Ahmad Faizee.

"Ahmad has experience in Go-Kart before, despite losing in all competition."

"But let's face it, Go-Kart isn't easy to win, the sharp turns and all..."Lun continued. "But his determination in every competition is what makes us attracted to him. He has got the Malaysia Boleh spirit, and that's what we want."

"We have spoken to Mike and he's kind of attracted."He said confidently. Lun however said that if Schumacher decides to come over, it would not be a walk in the park for the veteran.

“Look, we pay him money to help us win races and the championship,” said the team manager. “It’s not going to be a holiday. We are a very strict team, no question about that. He may be a star but here, Mike would have to prove to us all his worth."

"I would probably put him in the probation team first, see how he fare with our speed-you know our engine could probably outrun Ferrari and Red Bull anytime."

"It will be a huge challenge… we will be releasing the car late, hopefully modified from our current Perodua Viva model, and that has reliability aspects. And we'll target being the best of the cars on the grid and I would hope by end-season we are challenging teams like Ferrari, Renault and Red Bull. That's not impossible."
